Microwave heating : Future heating system in palm oil mills?
RAVI Menon

This paper is intended to introduce young palm oil mill engineers to the world of microwaves, to generate interest in them to follow research activities in microwave heating techniques, so that they may one day utilise this technology to modernise Palm Oil Milling. Microwave heating in food industry has the advantage of faster and uniform heating than conventional methods and product quality also is known to improve. In palm oil industry microwave heating was tried on spikelets at a time when technology was still at its infancy. Now with improved knowledge, a more serious approach is necessary to utilise it for sterilisation or other process heating.

Venturi wet scrubbing system for boiler flue gases

Black smoke from burners has long been a distinguishing feature of palm oil mills in the country. The smoke-mostly particulate emissions and easily noticed-is now the subject of much public complaint and warrants better attention in the fight against air pollution. A wet scrubbing system based on the venturi principle is described. It is for […]
