Adsorption of copper by fly ash obtained from oil-palm waste
M A Hashim , CHITGUPPA, R , MA Ah Ngan

The adsorption behaviour of copper on fly ash samples obtained from oil-palm waste products was studied using batch stirred-tank methods. In general, the adsorption process achieved equilibrium in about 40 minutes. Adsorption equilibrium data corresponded well to the Langmuir model. The adsorption capacity of the fly ash for copper was shown to be influenced by environment factors such as pH and temperature. The fly ash was obtained from a palmoil mill which burns oil palm shell and fibres to produce steam.
