Quality aspects of milling
MENON, N Ravi

This paper does not claim to reveal any new technology for improving the quality of crude palm oil and palm kernel but merely highlights some of the basic and important procedures in milling, which should not be ignored to consistently produce good quality palm products. Some of the good practices established by the pioneers of the milling industry appear to have been forgotten by the millers and in many instances there is evidence to suggest that quality concern has taken a back seat. In the current quality-biased global market it would be suicidal to neglect quality. All efforts should be directedtowards improving the existing quality of our palm products.
