This article discusses a system of harvesting and infield transport of FFB called Harvester-Driver-Loose Fruit Collector (HDLFC) System, and a report on the cost of the HDLFC system of harvesting and mechanised infield transport of FFB per tonne is presented.

Mechanization of the transportation of oil palm fruit bunches

Mechanised infield FFB transportation has received great attention and various methods have been adopted. These include Jackpak, dumptruck, tractor-trailer and mini-tractor with one tonne capacity trailer. Besides infield FFB transportation, the mini-tractor can also be used for other jobs such as spraying, fertilizer spreading and general transportation in the field.
