Environmental problems and the engineer – Part 1
KANNAN K S

There is a great diversity of problems within the various branches of the engineering profession. Some of the disciplines are obviously more closely connected with the physical environment than others, but all of them have a much wider environmental content that would appear at first sight. This is more to be expected of chemical, fuel, civil, mining, sanitary, municipal and aeronautical engineers, an the like. A wide range of engineers are directly involved with environmental problems. Yet this does not mean that there exists and effective feedback loop to the educational system, and this is what must be rectified.
