MATHEWS, C.Plantation agriculture in Malaysia dates back to the early 1900s starting with coffee, tea, coconut, rubber, cocoa and oil palms. The British were the early planters in this country as the early plantations were mainly opened and owned by the British Colonial Masters. Over the years and particularly after Malaysia gained her independence, more and more Malaysians became planters. Likewise n10_._ and bigger areas of land were opened up both by foreigners and locals. Today, one has only to look down during a flight from Penarig to Sepang and Senai to observe not or..ly the vast impact which the planting industry has made on Malaysian development but also the qualitative characters in the creation of nature by the planter.
